First, I want to apologize to all of you that we were not able to complete your orientation experience.  Your safety is our number one priority and with the events of July 16, it was necessary that we cancelled day two of orientation. Although there were important events missed, the most critical part of the day was Academic Advising and Course Registration.  The information below will cover all of the information needed to complete your orientation experience.

1. Cajun Card ID photos: We will mail all of the ID photos to your home address.  If you were unable to take an ID photo on Tuesday, then please visit the Cajun Card office during the first week of classes to take your picture and pick up your ID.  Their office is located on the first floor of Vermilion Hall (near the swamp).

2. Overnight guests: If you stayed overnight in Baker Hall and were unable to return your key and obtain your personal items, please send an email to lauren@louisiana.edu so I can ensure that the Office of University Housing communicates with you about the process to collect your belongings from Baker Hall.

3. Academic Advising and Course Registration: Beginning today (July 17), the Academic Advisors are calling and/or emailing all Session 5 students to conduct academic advising OVER THE PHONE. The email is being sent to the student's personal email address (that they applied to the University with), NOT their CLID@louisiana.edu email address.  Also, Advisors have begun making phone calls to the phone numbers listed on each student's application, but we are noticing that students are not answering their phones.  PLEASE CHECK YOUR PHONES/VOICEMAILS AND YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL ACCOUNT AND REPLY TO US PROMPTLY.

After this advising session, you will be able to schedule your classes through ULink. We had over 380 students attend this orientation session, so I ask for your patience as we work through the list. Please wait to be contacted by your advisor so that we can move as quickly as possible through the list.  If you do not receive a phone call/email by 12:00 PM (noon) on Tuesday, July 22, please contact one of the following numbers:
Office of the First Year Experience: 337-482-6599
Office of Orientation: 337-482-1391
Vice President of Enrollment Management: 337-482-5912

4. After you are advised and you begin scheduling classes, if you experience any difficulties in registering through ULink or have questions about how to register your classes, please call the Office of Orientation main line at 337-482-1391, my direct line at 337-482-1392 or our Assistant Director, Kyle's main line at 337-482-1480.  We are happy to help walk you through the process and answer any of your questions.

5. Campus Tour: Because we were unable to conduct the campus tour today, please be aware that we offer Class Locator Tours after New Student Convocation on August 24 from 6:00-8:00 PM. After you attend Convocation, please come to main campus and our Student Orientation Staff and SOUL Camp Staff will be available to show you where your classes will be located. More details about Convocation can be found here: http://orientation.louisiana.edu/students/new-student-convocation.

Finally, this is my direct email address (lauren@louisiana.edu).  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our staff. I hope that even with one day of orientation, you are excited about being a Ragin' Cajun and we cannot wait to see you in the Fall!!

Sincerely,

Lauren Sarver
