New Student Convocation

New Student Convocation marks your official academic entrance to the student community and your academic career at UL Lafayette! All new students are required to attend this event that marks the beginning of their academic journey at our university.

We are excited to welcome the Class of 2018! Our New Student Convocation theme is: Find Your Ragin' Spirit. We will inspire you as you prepare to join us for your first semester on campus.

Following New Student Convocation, all students are invited to enjoy a free cookout and music at the Convention Center, and Fan Day at the Cajundome.

Schedule of Events

3:15 PM: Doors Open, Cajundome Convention Center. Free T-shirt to the first 2,000 New Students! Bring your Cajun Card - we will scan to ensure full Class of 2018 attendance.

4:00 PM - 6:30 PM:
New Student Convocation, Cajundome Convention Center
New Student Cookout, Cajundome Convention Center
UL Athletics Fan Day, Cajundome

6:45 PM - 8:00 PM: Campus Tours & Class Location Available (Optional), Main Campus

*Warning, there will be a strobe light show at the end of convocation. Students with sensitivity to strobe lights will be notified before the show begins and will be able to step outside of the room and re-join the group immediately after for the cookout.*

Dress Code

There is no specific dress code for this event. We do recommend that you wear UL spirit attire!

Parking

Parking is available for free at Cajun Field. Students can walk to the Cajundome Convention Center.

Shuttle Service for Residence Hall Students

Parking & Transit will run shuttle service for Residence Hall & Legacy Park Students. Transit service begins at 3:00 PM and will be located in front of Baker Hall on Taft Street. The last shuttle to the Convention Center leaves at 3:45 PM. Shuttles will begin bringing students back to campus at 6:30 PM. The LAST BUS leaves at 7:30 PM from the Cajundome Convention Center.
