| Reservations When will I get my Orientation Invitation? Students admitted for Summer or Fall term, 2008, will begin receiving invitations the last week of February.
After that date, invitations are mailed to newly admitted students on a weekly basis. When should I register for Orientation? The Office of Orientation utilizes online registration for orientation. Your orientation invitation will include instructions on reserving your place at an Orientation session. Once you register, you are required to pay your Orientation Fee by the Orientation fee payment deadline found on your invoice in order to keep your reservation.
What do I do if I lost my password or never received my Orientation invitation? If you never received your Orientation invitation, confirm your correct mailing address with the University's Registrar as soon as possible. The Registrar's Office is located in Martin Hall, room 171. The main phone number is 337-482-6291.
New passwords can only be generated in person at the Help Desk in Stephens Hall. You are required to shower a pictured ID to receive a new password. You may call the Office of Orientation at 337-482-1391 to get scheduling assistance. At your Orientation session, you will have an additional opportunity to get a new password. What do I do if my first choice session is filled? Please schedule your second choice session. There is no waiting list for sessions; however, once you have scheduled a session, you may continue to check the availability of other sessions on-line and schedule a new session if a spot becomes available.
Please note that new sections of freshman level courses are opened before each Orientation session to allow you the best chance to schedule courses required for your major. In addition, the Student Orientation Staff (SOS) will be on hand during course registration to help you schedule appropriate classes. Fees Is there a cost to attend orientation? Yes. The program cost for all Freshman sessions is $75.00. The cost for the Adult and Transfer sessions is $35.00.
When and how do I pay my Orientation Fee? Payment for Orientation is required by the fee payment deadline found on your invoice. Orientation reservations will be canceled for students who do not pay by the deadline. Pay your fee using one of the following payment options:
What does the Orientation Fee include? The Orientation Fee includes your Undergraduate Bulletin, applicable meal(s) during Orientation, facilitation of Orientation, program materials, applicable meal(s), an undergraduate bulletin, and a Ragin' Cajun spirit t-shirt. The fee is nonrefundable.
When do I pay tuition and fees? Once you schedule your classes you will automatically be assessed tuition and fees. You may view your fee bill through ULink, the University on-line portal. Be sure to pay your tuition and fees by the deadline listed on your orientation schedule to avoid cancellation of your classes.
Course Scheduling When will I schedule my classes? New freshmen: You will meet with a faculty advisor and schedule classes at your Orientation session. Current UL Lafayette students who are part of the Student Orientation Staff (SOS) will assist you in this process.
Transfer students: You may schedule an appointment with your faculty advisor and register for classes as soon as you receive a letter from the Office of Junior Division indicating that you are eligible to do so. Call the number in your letter to make an appointment. At your advising appointment, you will receive the information you need to register your classes on-line. Unless you have a scheduled appointment, you will not see an advisor at your Orientation session. Testing I am taking the National Advanced Placement (AP) test, will I earn credit? Do I need to take Advanced Credit Exams at UL Lafayette? Students earning a 3 or higher on the National AP exam earn course credit at UL Lafayette. Students who earn credit through the National AP exam do not necessarily need to take UL Lafayette’s Advance Credit Exams. However, they may do so to have an additional opportunity to earn course credit.

PO Box 41210 Lafayette LA 70504 Dates What if I have a conflict with the Orientation date? We highly recommend that you clear your calendar to attend Orientation. You will receive the best selection of classes by attending Orientation. Remember, Orientation is mandatory for all incoming freshmen and transfer students will fewer than 30 credit hours. Students who do not attend a regular Orientation session will be assessed a $50 late course registration fee in addition to the Orientation fee.
What if I already have a scheduled commitment? Please clear your calendar of work, vacation, or athletic events for the full length of the Orientation program.
Other Are all sessions at Orientation required? Yes. We want you to have the best chance for success, so students are required to participate in the full length of the program.
How can I change my major?
Students who are undecided may choose to major in Liberal Arts: Undeclared. In this major, you will start off taking core courses that will apply to any degree program.
Are special accommodations available? UL Lafayette will seek to accommodate all persons with disabilities, including hearing impaired students, for this program. If you have a disability that may require accommodations, please notify the office of Services for Students with Disabilities at 337-482-5252, fourteen (14) days in advance to make arrangements. Medical documentation is required.
May I bring a friend to Orientation? Because of the nature of the program, only admitted students confirmed for a session may attend Orientation. Orientation is the best place to get to know your future fellow Ragin’ Cajuns!
Can you provide transportation to/from the airport? Unfortunately we cannot provide transportation to campus.
UL Lafayette is located approximately:
2 miles from Lafayette Regional Airport,
63 miles from Baton Rouge Metro Airport, and 135 miles from New Orleans International Airport. How do I get to campus? From Lake Charles area and Houston:
I-10 East to Exit 101 (Lafayette/Carencro Exit)
Right onto University Ave, pass 9 lights Right on Johnston St. Left on University Ave. Right on Taft Street From Alexandria area and Dallas: I-49 South go under the I-10 overpass into Lafayette
Go through 8 lights Right on Johnston St. Left on University Ave. Right on Taft Street From Baton Rouge area: I-10 West to Exit 101 (Lafayette/Carencro Exit)
Left onto University Ave, pass 9 lights Right on Johnston Left on University Ave. Right on Taft Street From Houma/Thibodaux area and the Lafayette Airport: Hwy. 90 North to the light at Surrey St. (airport is on right)
Turn left onto Surrey St. (note that Surrey St. becomes University Ave. at this intersection) Left on Taft Street. Directions to Baker-Huger Residence Hall /Overnight Parking: After turning onto University Ave. Pass the first light at Hebrard Blvd.
